Berapa laju bumi berputar / bergerak 5 Mei 2010

Cuba tengok data berikut:

Kelajuan orbit planet Mercury: 47.87 km/s atau 172,332 km/h
Kelajuan orbit bumi: 29.78 km/s atau 107,200 km/h
Kelajuan putaran bumi di paksi: 1670 km/h
Kelajuan orbit planet Jupiter: 13.07 km/s atau 47 052 km/h

Sebenarnya kita (planet bumi) bergerak dalam orbit mengelilingi matahari dengan amat laju iaitu lebih 100 ribu km per jam (lebih 80 Mach atau 80 kali kelajuan bunyi) dan berputar pula  selaju 1,670 km per jam. Untuk dapat gambaran berapa laju, cuba bandingkan dengan kereta F1 yang top speed baru 320km/h. Rekod pesawat hypersonic terlaju iaitu X-43 NASA (unmanned) pun baru capai 12,144 km/h atau or Mach 9.8 . Apa jadi kalau planet ni berenti tiba-tiba atau berlanggar dengan objek lain… heher… tengok apa jadi bila kereta formula1 kena langgarler.. tu baru sikit…

    Earth moves very fast. It spins (rotates) at a speed of about 1,000 miles (1.7 kilometers) per hour and orbits around the sun at a speed of about 67,000 miles (107,000 kilometers) per hour. We do not feel any of this motion because these speeds are constant. The spinning and orbital speeds of Earth stay the same so we do not feel any acceleration or deceleration. You can only feel motion if your speed changes. For example, if you are in a car which is moving at a constant speed on a smooth surface, you will not feel much motion. However, when the car accelerates or when the brakes are applied, you do feel motion.

    As to why you can’t feel this speed: it’s because you have no ‘speed organs’ which can sense absolute speed, you can only tell how fast you are going relative to something else, and you can sense changes in velocity (accelerations). Scientists have no instruments which can sense absolute speed either, and so they deny that the concept of absolute speed has any meaning.

    Suppose you are in a car traveling down the road. How can you tell how fast you are going? The speedometer tells you how fast your wheels are turning, but you could be standing dead still, spinning your wheels trying to get off a patch of ice, so put black tape over the speedometer. The car vibrates because it’s working so hard, not necessarily because it’s moving, so get a solidly built car that doesn’t vibrate, and use a vibration absorbing seat cushion so you can’t feel anything.
